Virtual backgrounds
Film yourself against a green screen and replace the background with any image or video — virtual office, travel destination, or branded backdrop.
Green Screen Compositing
KineMaster's Chroma Key tool removes a selected color from video clips and images. Use the eyedropper to pick the color to remove, then fine-tune the mask edging for a clean, professional composite.
What it does
Chroma Key works by detecting and removing a specific color (it works best with extremely saturated red, blue, or green) from a video clip or image. Select the Key Color with the eyedropper to sample the color, adjust the Foreground and Background threshold to control how wide the color selection is, and use Detail Curve to smooth the boundary between subject and new background.
How to use
Five steps from green screen footage to clean composite using Key Color, Foreground and Background threshold adjustments, and the Detail Curve.
Add media with your green screen footage as a layer on the Timeline. The background must be a separate layer below it.
Tap the green screen layer to select it. Then, tap Chroma Key in the Tool Panel.
Tap Enable. The Chroma Key tool will automatically select the color to be knocked out. You can change the color with the Key Color Color Picker.
Adjust the Foreground and Background threshold sliders to widen or narrow the range of color being removed.
Use the Detail Curve to soften or sharpen the edge between your subject and the new background.

Yes. You can use the Key Color Color Picker to sample any background color, including blue screen. Chroma Key works best with highly saturated reds, blues, and greens.
Chroma Key removes a specific sampled color. Magic Remover uses AI to detect and remove content that isn't identified as a person from any footage — no green screen needed. Choose Chroma Key for controlled studio shoots, Magic Remover for footage with people.
Even, wrinkle-free green or blue screen cloth as a backdrop is ideal. Avoid shadows and green spill on your subject by using both a bounce and a fill light and by keeping your subject as far from the backdrop as possible.
